The attention of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been drawn to a story circulating in the internet, alleging that the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State is the sponsor of the proposed nationwide protest to be led by 2 Face Idibia, to demand answers from the government over different issues in the country.
It is laughable that the only link between the music star, 2 Face and Senator Akpabio which the authors of the mischievous story belabour to establish is that “in 2013, 2Face and his wife, Annie Macaulay were gifted (sic) two brand new Prado SUVs by this former governor as their wedding gift which they amiably (sic) accepted.”
For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that Senator Akpabio knows nothing about the planned protest neither is he the sponsor. In fact, Senator Akpabio has had no contact whatsoever with 2Face for many years.
According to the information being circulated the organizers of the planned protest have stated clearly that their protest is: “a call for nationwide protests as we say no to the Executive, no to legislatures, no to judiciary.”
Is it not idiotic and senseless for anyone to imagine that Senator Akpabio will sponsor a protest against the same arm of government that he is serving as a leader.
As the Minority Leader, Senator Akpabio has consistently maintained that Nigerians should put aside their differences and support every effort that will pull the country out of the present recession. Much as he believes in the right of every Nigerian to express himself, he does not think that mass protest is the solution.
The mischievous attempt to drag the name of Senator Akpabio into the planned protest should be discountenanced as the handiwork of political jobbers.

The father poisoned his children because he blamed them for the death of his parents.
The father was arrested by the Divisional Police Station, Akampka, and then transferred to Police Headquarters in Calabar.
The suspect allegedly gave his 11-year-old twin daughters a black substance mixed with acid, took them to a bush path and made them drink it. The substance which is believed to be poison, led to their
death on January 10 and 11, 2017.
According to Vanguard, a source said:
“The man told us that his daughters confessed to be witches and that he had no choice other than to kill them before they kill him. So he mixed acid with malt, took the twins to a bush path and gave them the substance to drink.”
Another source said:
“The twins were always wandering the streets. When brought back home by strangers, Festus usually chased them out again without food. Sometimes they were locked up and not given food for days.”
Vanguard reports that the twin girls had been imprisoned by their father for about three days after which he told them that he was going to them to school. He let them out and took them to the bush path where they were both poisoned
An eyewitness, said that before one of the twins died, she revealed that their father had taken them to a bush path at Nyaghasan on a bike, brought out a black substance and gave to them to drink.
She said they both drank it, but because the substance was bitter, she refused the second portion, but her sister drank both portions that their father offered them.
She said the twin said after they took the poison, they started having stomach ache and complained to their father, who then pretended like he was going to get help for them but never returned for them.
The witness said:
“Not too long after, they started feeling dizzy and then fell asleep. When she woke up and tapped her sister, she was no longer breathing.
“The deceased said she had to drag her sister’s lifeless body from the bush to the road. It was in the process that a good Samaritan saw them and informed the police, who then took both of them to Akamkpa General Hospital, where she later died at about 3:40a.m., on January 11.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident, said:
“We have apprehended the suspect; he was brought from Akamkpa this morning (Monday) to the headquarters. He confessed that he gave his daughters acid mixed with malt to drink because he had a premonition that they would kill him like they killed his parents.
“He had the belief because they confessed to him that they were witches. So he carried out the dastardly act to save his life first.”

The deceased man, Delani Ngwenya, reportedly committed suicide on Sunday.

According to ZimNews, after buying a new car, Ngwenya decided to teach his wife how to drive.
However, the vehicle rammed into the family house killing people on the spot.
The wife, whose name was not immediately established was driving at the time of the horrific
accident.
“It is said that Delani recently bought a car and was teaching his wife to drive and upon reaching his home yesterday afternoon she mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the the brakes thereby driving straight into the house where Delani’s mother, a visitor and his father were sitting” a source said.
“Mrs Ngwenya, Delani’s mother and Mrs Chamunorwa the visitor died on the spot and Delani could not stomach the loss thus he hanged himself,” said the source.

Quite reserved, the father-of-three opened up on his marriage and addressed stereotypes . Read excerpts from the interview after the cut….
Aside from acting what have you been up to lately?
RAMSEY: I have been spending time with my family. Whenever the need arises, I get involved in humanitarian and charitable activities. It has been more about film, family and giving back to the society.
Ramsey, your marriage appears to have stood the test of time. You have been married for 15 years now. Some of your colleagues have been unlucky in this regard.
RAMSEY: Contrary to a widely held notion, the success of a marriage largely rests on the woman. But these days, a lot of marriages are based on equality. A woman wants to get 50 per cent of whatever she is giving into the marriage back from the man. This has led to the breakdown of many marriages. From time our mothers used to be the women that held their marriages. They were in charge of the home. Our mothers took charge of everything but today women don’t want that kind of responsibility. Hence, it is affecting marriages.
So, your wife has fared well in this regard?
RAMSEY: My wife belongs to the category of “our mothers”. She believes in sustaining our marriage and holding it strong.
So whenever I am asked how we have been able to keep it together, I tell them my wife is the woman who has actually held our home.
Do you also accord her rightful place in the home?
RAMSEY: She doesn’t have a place because she owns the home. It’s her call however (way) she wants things done. She is the driver of the family and her decision is final. That is why I say she is not an ordinary woman. She is a triple woman.
Is she comfortable with your romantic and kissing scenes?
Ramsey: When some people ask me “how does your wife cope when she sees you kissing other women in the movie?” and I tell them that my wife is special. She is not an ordinary woman. She understands things in a way many other women don’t. That is why I say, an actor or actress, has to find that special person. It is not love that will bond you. Forget love, love dies. What sustains the marriage is companionship. If you cannot find companionship in your partner from the beginning, then you do not have a partner. Don’t lust after a woman because of her beauty and don’t lust after a guy because he is handsome. You must lust after the companionship that bonds you together. It should be like “for some reasons you cannot do without her; for some reasons there is something about her that brings you home”. It may be her sense of humour; or the way she keeps the home. Same thing applies for the ladies; there must be something about him that you cannot do without. If this quality is not there, then you don’t have a companion.
So, you guys have had it smooth sailing in your marriage all the while?
Ramsey: Don’t get me wrong, don’t think that do have our moments of disagreement. But it depends on the way we handle it. Women cannot stand the heat in the kitchen anymore and they just want to run. That is why marriages are crumbling. A lot people don’t want to work hard anymore, because marriage is hard work. So when you talk about marriages crashing, it’s not my call. The only problem that I have is to make sure I provide food for the family.
Any counsel for your colleagues who have been unlucky with love and marriage?
Ramsey: Nobody gives advice when it comes to matters of the heart. People say they are going for counseling and all but at the end, it is what is in their heart is still what they want to do. Because those things in your heart are laced with emotions and emotions are very hard to tackle. When you have emotion that is full of jealousy, hate or anger, it is hard to break it until you exercise it. That is why when your dad screams ‘do not follow that boy’ the teenager does not listen until she has satisfied what her heart desires from the boy. Most times, you learn by experience. Companionship is not easy. When everybody is running into marriages as if marriage wants to go out of fashion, take your time and be ready for it. Be ready to accept someone with his flaws. My wife has her problems and I also have mine. A lot of it actually and I know. You must be able to accommodate the other person.
Divorce is on the rise. Why do you think this is so?
Ramsey: When a woman believes she earns more than the man, the man should start doing the work of a woman like sweeping, changing diapers. There is no sense in that. A woman’s place should not change and the same applies to the man. I am not expecting a woman to overwork herself with house chores. I help and support my wife when there is no help in the house. I sweep when I have the time.
In what ways do you also help out in the home?
Ramsey: I cooked two days before having this interview. I am a great cook. No woman can do shakara for me oo. I made my stew and rice with smoked chicken. I grew up with my mum and with her, you must know how to sweep and do many other chores.
Some of your fans cannot picture you doing house chores?
RAMSEY: The thing is that everyone now has the perspective of wanting to live larger than life, forgetting the reality. We keep forgetting that if we don’t do it, who will do it? At some point my wife got tired of house helps. We have three kids at home and we have to fend for them. I cannot leave everything for her, so I help out. Sometimes we tell the kids to wash their plates. At some point I realized that my 12 and 13 years old could not sweep and that was very wrong. So we started forcing them to clean. Most kids of these days cannot sweep or clean. All they want to do is do is make their nails, make their hair and carry big phones and tablets around.
Are you romantic?
RAMSEY: Don’t judge me by my movie roles. I don’t think I am romantic. My wife does not think I am that romantic either.
Many people wonder why you do not step out with your wife on the red carpet?
RAMSEY: My wife and I have an understanding. And this is one of the reasons our marriage is still standing strong. We avoid the public eye because the public has a way of messing up relationships. Sometimes, my wife goes ahead of me into the event, so we don’t do red carpet. It is the same people that harass you for not taking your wife to red carpet event that will sit back and point fingers at how you both look.
Some say you don’t take your wife to red carpet event because she is not beautiful?
RAMSEY: That is what they think. My wife is very cute. May be because my wife is not loud or flashy when it comes to make-up or wearing long weaves. She is very natural and she knows that I love her natural looks.

The protest, planned to hold on Sunday, February 5, had in the last two weeks generated much hue and cry with some Nigerian celebrities queuing behind the move, while others had kicked against the intention.
But on Monday, a source revealed that 2face was being used as a stooge to drive the protest aimed at smearing the Buhari-led Federal Government.
This said former governor, now a Senator, has never hidden his love for the ‘African Queen’ crooner and had in the past said to have showered award winning musician with cash and gifts worth several millions of naira.
It would be recalled that 2face and his wife, Annie Macaulay, in 2013, were gifted two brand new Prado SUVs by this former governor as their wedding gift which they graciously accepted.

Maud Kugara’s alleged illicit affair with Shelton Matarutse reportedly came to light after the latter’s mobile phone was taken by his wife Agnes following a misunderstanding over love messages.
According to H-metro, Agnes communicated with Kugara on her husband’s mobile phone and the latter complied by visiting a hotel in their area in Zimbabwe, where she was pounced on and given a thorough beating.
Agnes said she got really angry after she discovered through their exchanged messages that the lady had slept with her husband on their matrimonial bed when she traveled.
Agnes confirmed the incident saying Maud’s conversation with her husband showed that they have been seeing each other in her matrimonial bedroom whenever she was not at home.
“I discovered that Maud was seeing my husband behind my back at my house and her message that they were to meet led me to trap her,” said Agnes.

Ms Yates, who was appointed by Mr Obama, said she was “not convinced that the executive order is lawful”.
“I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right,” Ms Yates wrote in a letter to Justice Department lawyers.
“At present, I am not convinced that the defence of the executive order is consistent with these responsibilities.”
Mr Trump has named Dana Boente, US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to serve in her place.
The White House press office said in a statement that Yates “has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States.”
The statement called Ms Yates an Obama administration appointee “who is weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.”
Dana Boente was sworn in at 9 p.m. ET. A few hours later, Boente issued a statement rescinding Yates’ order, instructing DOJ lawyers to “defend the lawful orders of our President.”
Boente told The Washington Post that he will agree to enforce the immigration order.
Trump didn’t call Yates to dismiss her, she was informed by hand-delivered letter, according to a different administration official.
Ms Yates was due to be replaced by Jeff Sessions, Mr Trump’s pick for attorney general, once his appointment is confirmed by the US senate.

The woman who was only identified as Wanjiru Kamami or Shiro, published an advertisement on a Kenyan newspaper complete with her husband’s image, his phone number and his National Identification number. The translated ad above reads:

According to teachers at the school, two students died on the spot while the other three died at Marondera Provincial Hospital where they had been referred to for treatment.
“We were having our usual Thursday afternoon assembly when disaster struck. No-one has any idea what really happened as all the students and teachers were fell to the ground,” a teacher at the school said.
“After the incident, we discovered that two of the students had died while some were seriously injured.
According to another teacher, the local community was shocked over the loss of life as the lightning struck when the sky was clear and there was no sign that it would rain on the day.
“Most of the students were seriously injured while others were left naked after their school uniforms were burnt.
“Electricity supplies have been affected as the power generator was also hit by the lightning bolt at the same time,” the teacher said.
NewZimbabwe reports the 2016/17 rain season has witnessed an increase in deaths due to lighting strikes. Last week, six people attending a funeral were killed at Siachilaba in Binga when lightning struck a tree they were sheltering under. Three others sustained severe burns.

Chinobi Sabestine and Emmanuel were arrested by the police for allegedly abducting a 10-year-old boy.
It was reported that the suspects were apprehended in a bank in the Oyingbo area of the state as they were about withdrawing the ransom paid by the boy’s family into an account.
Emmanuel, who claimed to be a trader at the Mandilas Market, Lagos Island, claimed that he
abducted the 10-year-old in the Alafia area of Orile-Iganmu, on his way to school, as a way of paying his master back for refusing to settle him after working for him for four years.
“I started staying with my Oga in 2013. He took me from my parents to stay with him so that I could learn how to sell clothes. In the agreement he had with my parents before he took me, he promised to set me up after four years.
“In 2016, he was supposed to help me start my own business; but instead, he opened another shop and asked me to be paying him N20,000 monthly.
“I could not cope because of the recession in the country, so I asked him to pay me as agreed, but he refused. Rather, he sent me back to the village.
“I came back early January and I stayed in a hotel. It was there that the idea of kidnapping his son came to me. Last week Monday, around 7am, I laid in ambush along the route where his son normally passed to school in the Alafia area of Orile.
“The boy emerged around 7.45am. He came to me when I called him and I took him away,” the suspect said.
The suspect further explained that he kept the young boy in his hotel room for four days, until he was arrested on Apapa Road.
“Throughout the four days, the boy stayed with me in my hotel room at Oyingbo. I called my Oga on the telephone the next day to pay N5m into my account if he hoped to see his son again. I sent him my account number.
“I was on my way to collect my ATM card from the bank on Apapa Road when I was arrested. I never knew that the police were on my trail,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, while briefing newsmen on the arrest, said the suspect, along with one other, kidnapped the 10-year-old boy.
He said after kidnapping their victim, the suspects demanded N5m as ransom to release the boy.
