On Monday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus will hold an emergency meeting in Abuja to discuss prevailing national issues. The meeting is coming after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the earlier scheduled Feb. 16 Presidential and National Assembly elections. The APC caucus which is a statutory organ of the party, is chaired by President Buhari and has the Vice President and all the party’s former governors as members. Its membership also includes the party’s serving governors, and members of its National Working Committee (NWC), among others. INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu,had a few hours to commencement of the presidential and National Assembly elections announced the rescheduling of the exercises by one week. By the postponement, the Presidential and National Assembly elections now comes up on Feb. 23, while the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections comes up on March 9. On Sunday afternoon, famous Kenyan lawyer, Robert Chesang was assassinated in his home in the outskirts of Nairobi. According to the Standard newspaper, the gun attack happened in Lukenya area, Machakos County. The assassins reportedly escaped. Policemen who were called to the scene of the crime had to scale the fence to enter the compound as the gates were locked. The lawyer was said to have been alone in the house during the time of the incident. Police said they recovered seven spent cartridges of an AK47 rifle at the scene of murder. “It is rare to find thugs with rifles and especially AK47. This seems to be classic elimination using serious people probably state operatives,” a police official said. The Ogun State Police command has arrested a woman for allegedly defrauding a Christian faith-based organisation to the sum of N100m.The suspect, 39-year-old Iwuagwu Onyinyechi was arrested under the pretence of assisting the organisation to raise fund for its charity programmeSpeaking to newsmen on Sunday, Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the lady was arrested after a petition written by a Lagos-based lawyer of the organisation, Godswill Ojakovo, to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, in which he complained that his client was defrauded by the suspect through an act of forgery.According to Oyeyemi, the suspect claimed to have got a Local Purchase Order (LPO) from a property company and appealed to the organisation to help fund the LPO, consequent upon which a sum of N33.118m was transferred into to her bank account.He said while the organisation was awaiting the repayment of the loan, the suspect came with another two LPOs she claimed to have got from a Catholic Hospital, Iju and a private school in Ikorodu, Lagos State, upon which another sum of N77m was given to her, after convincing the organisation with relevant documents and proofs to back her claims.But as soon as the suspect got the last payment in September 2018, she was nowhere to be found, prompting the organisation to make inquiries about the LPOs she submitted before they discovered it was all forged.“Upon the petition, the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, Ahmed Iliyasu, directed his monitoring team to go after the suspect and bring her to book. Mary Adeniyi, a 19-year-old nursing mother has been arrested for stabbing her husband to death in Lagos. Mary committed the offence on Friday afternoon, during a scuffle with her husband, Solomon Nduka, 30, over her alleged infidelity at their Shagamu Road, Ikorodu residence. According to reports, the deceased usually accused the suspect of cheating on him which led to a fight. A man from Eguare Opoji, Ekpoma identified as Mr. Osifo Okoeguale allegedly died in police custody because his sister couldn't afford to pay the sum of #20,000 allegedly demanded by the police from Ekpoma Division. According to activist Kola Edokpayi It all happened on the 12th day of February, 2019 when the man was arrested alongside his 14 years old cousin in Ekpoma. The deceased elder sister came to the Police Station to facilitate his bail, the IPO allegedly demanded the sum of #20,000 for bail. The woman pleaded with the IPO to collect the sum of #15,000 but he allegedly refused to collect the money and insisted on 20k. The woman left the station in frustration and came back two days later only to be told that her brother died in police custody. Kola Edokpayi and his team stated tthat they are handling the matter in the interest of justice.

A woman from Kijichi Mkoa in Western Zanzibar, Tanzania is nursing facial injuries after she was allegedly beaten up by her husband for allegedly refusing to have anal sex with him.The victim says her husband has for long been pestering her for the unnatural act, but she has always rebuffed his advances.According to the woman, Islamic practice does not advocate anal sex.The victim says her partner accuses her of being “naïve” on matters sex.“He began demanding anal sex from me three months after our wedding. I told him: ‘no’; straight away! He, however, kept on urging me to give in to his demands. Even when I was seven months pregnant, he still wanted to have anal sex with me. The words “doctrine of hate” and “architect of genocide” were found daubed in red paint across the Grade I-listed monument in the north London graveyard on Saturday. The latest attack comes less than two weeks after the marble plaque on the tomb was defaced by an apparent attempt to scrape and chip Marx’s name off the marble slab with a hammer. At the time the group who manage the cemetery said they feared the memorial would never be the same again. Maxwell Blowfield, 31, who visited the cemetery this morning with his mother admitted he was “quite shocked” by the attack. Vandals back at Marx Memorial, Highgate Cemetery. The Nigerian Army female team has emerged the overall first and third position at the 3rd Edition of the West African Military Semi-Marathon Tournament that took place at Niamey, Niger Republic on Saturday 16th February 2019. The Semi- Marathon Event which was organised by the Niger Republic Defence Headquarters in conjunction with the West African Military Sports Organisation, featured male and female participants. It is instructive to mention that the Semi - Marathon was organised in the spirit of building friendship amongst the militaries of the West African Sub - Region. The Nigerian Army presented marathoners in the male and female categories. Pertinent to mention that, the Nigerian Army was at the Marathon to represemt the Armed Forces of Nigeria. At the end of the Semi-Marathon, the Nigerian Army Female and Male Marathon Teams placed 1st and 3rd Positions respectively in the Team Evemts. In the Female Individual Events, the duo of LCpl Naomi Yunana and Pte Amos Unity won Gold and Silver Medals respectively. The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has congratulated the team on the feat achieved.

Over 8,000 prospective couples have joined the queue and are undergoing screening to participate in Kano state-sponsored mass wedding. The Kano State Hisbah Board embarked on the screening of the divorcees, widows and spinsters. The Kano State Government had on December 12, 2018 set up a 23-member committee on state-sponsored wedding of 3,000 widows, divorcees and spinsters in the state. The board’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Adamu Yahaya on Saturday said that no fewer than 15 persons were found to be HIV positive while 23 women were also discovered to be pregnant. “The screening was conducted to ascertain the health status of the couples before the marriage. The screening is mandatory as it will enable the board and each partner to know the health status of their partners before the marriage is conducted,” he said. He said the prospective couples were from the 44 local government areas of the state. According to him, the state government under the leadership of the Gov.
