31-year-old South African woman dies after being doused with petrol and set alight by her boyfriend for greeting her ex-lover

A 31-year-old woman, Viwe Dalingozi, died on Sunday, October 28, from severe burn wounds after her boyfriend allegedly doused with petrol and set alight in their Johannesburg flat for being in contact with her ex-lover.Her uncle Fezile Dalingozi, who travelled from eNgcobo in the Eastern Cape to see Viwe after she was admitted to hospital, said the family was left devastated when news broke of her death. He said he was woken up by a call in the middle of the night informing him that his niece was badly burnt."I had just returned from Johannesburg on Sunday night and I was briefing the elders about Viwe's condition when I received a call from the hospital informing me that Viwe had passed on."  Dalingozi also said he will not be able to forget the last time he spoke to her for a few seconds, moments after her neighbours put out the fire on her."I spoke to her and she said she was scared that she was going to die because she was badly injured. I will not be able to forget the sound of her voice during that moment," Dalingozi said."She sounded scared and in a lot of pain. I just hope whoever is responsible for this is arrested and brought to book."  He described the 31-year-old as a frank, warm and welcoming person who was loved by her family and friends.Viwe moved to Johannesburg from the Eastern Cape four years ago and was an administrative clerk for a doctor's practice."Her mother has not been well for some time and this has further aggravated her health," Dalingozi said.A neighbour, who spoke to Sowetan on condition of anonymity, said she heard Viwe screaming for help in the early hours of Friday."I woke up to see what was happening and I could see that there was a fire in their flat. Before I could go in to assist I saw the boyfriend running from the flat."I ran to the flat and found Viwe in flames. I asked her what happened and she said her boyfriend was angered by her greeting her ex-boyfriend. He poured petrol on her and set her alight because he was angry and jealous."Captain Xoli Mbele said no one has been arrested and is appealing to the boyfriend to contact the police as he may be able to assist with investigations.Meanwhile her friends have taken to social medi to mourn her death and seek justice.  The post 31-year-old South African woman dies after being doused with petrol and set alight by her boyfriend for greeting her ex-lover appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

This Twitter reaction to Donald Trump's vow to revoke birthright citizenship is blowing up for obvious reasons

Donald Trump has criticized birthright citizenship and vowed to revoke the law through an executive order (read here). The birthright citizenship allows children of non-citizens and illegal immigrants born in the US to become automatic citizens. Trump says this is "ridiculous" and he promised to do something about it. Well, it seems the president has forgotten that same applies to his children's situation and a social media user pointed it out to him that his kids were born by an immigrant who wasn't a US citizen.@MrFilmkritik tweeted:Ivana Trump wasn't a US citizen until 1988. She gave birth to Don Jr in 1977, Ivanka in 1981, and Eric in 1984. Let's cancel their birthright citizenship first. The post This Twitter reaction to Donald Trump's vow to revoke birthright citizenship is blowing up for obvious reasons appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

LIB exclusive: Folorunsho Alakija is building West Africa's most expensive tower. Famfa Towers in Ikoyi set to cost a whooping N60billion

Africa's richest woman Mrs Folorunsho Alakija is set to become the owner of the most expensive building in West Africa, if not Africa. Famfa Towers is currently being built on Alfred Rewane Road in Ikoyi Lagos. The 22-floor edifice will set the billionaire oil mogul back a whooping N60billion or $165million but at a networth of nearly $3billion, it shouldn't be a problem for the former fashion designer who is said to be financing the project herself with no loans from any bank. Over N6billion has already been pumped into Famfa Towers as building begins. The one-of-kind Tower will be used for commercial purposes. The last five floors is said to be for Mrs Alakija's personal use, possibly for her office and the rest will be rented out to people who can afford it.The post LIB exclusive: Folorunsho Alakija is building West Africa's most expensive tower. 'US officials have signaled Atiku to come for visa'' Gbenga Daniel says

The Director-General of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Orgsanisation (APCO), Gbenga Daniel, says PDP presidnetial candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has received signal from the US government to apply for visa which would be granted. Daniel who is a former Governor of Ogun State disclosed this when he appeared on Channels TV today October 31st. Atiku who emerged PDP presidential flagbearer on October 7th, is widely believed to be wanted for alleged corruption in the US and has reportedly been banned from coming into the US. Speaking during his interview today, Daniel said“There have been signals from the American officials that he should indeed come forward; they want him to come so that they would grant him visa. This issue of corruption perception appears to have been overflogged. "I remember when we were running the campaign against the primary, and everybody kept confronting us with this perception; we kept saying the thing is no more than perception. Politically-motivated perception, which unfortunately appears to have stuck. But, by and large, I think as we move towards the real issues, people will begin to understand that all this is politically motivated."I have repeatedly said that we’re not in a Banana Republic. Nigerians, as a people, we know our weaknesses; anything that is negative about our leaders, we are ready to believe it hook, line and sinker. Until such a time when charges are pressed, then there are no issues as far as we are concenrned.More than anything else, if you look at newspapers in the last few days, we’ve had even statements issued by the State Department that they have no issue whatsoever with Atiku Abubakar; and if I may chip this in, I can also confirm to you that in the last few days, there have been signals from the American officials that he should indeed come forward; they want him to come so that they would grant him visa.
