A lot of teenagers and young adults who have not come to terms with living with sickle cell disease blame their parents. They seem to share the opinion that they rather were not born and that their births stem from the selfishness of their parents. Some of them that I have interviewed are angry because of the pain and suffering that they endure on a daily basis.
