The recently concluded Lagos City Marathon on the 2nd of February 2019, recorded a total of over 100,000 runners from nationalities around the world running across select routes in the State.Marathons are physically exhausting events with potential health implications for participants which is why the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU) was on hand with trained paramedics throughout the duration of the marathon to provide first response and emergency services to runners alongside ambulances to transfer individuals who needed further care to licensed hospitals.In 2016, the Lagos State Government contracted Avantgarde Management Services (AMS); a private consulting agency to work with existing agencies with the objective of delivering shorter emergency response times to those in need of rescue.Please ensure you call 112 to report cases of GENUINE emergencies- your call will be escalated to the relevant agency who will dispatch the nearest available response.
