Grandmother keeps getting mistaken for her son's girlfriend

A grandmother says she keeps getting mistaken for her 24-year-old son's girlfriend because of her incredibly youthful looks.Mum-of-three Lisa Fox, 42, from Whitley Bay, Newcastle Upon Tyne, says strangers find it hard to tell her and her teenage daughter Hollie apart. She said:I was always considered the cool mum and there has been a long-running joke with James' friends that I'm a bit of a MILF.I often get mistaken for James' girlfriend and I even got a phone call from a friend who believed she had seen him walking down the road with another woman when it was in fact me.Lisa had her first son James when she was 18 and daughter Hollie at 25, before her youngest son Jack, 12, came along in 2007.  The housewife, who welcomed her first grandchild 8 weeks ago, believes having children early helped her be a cool mum.  She said:I was a young mum at 18 and there was and still is a certain stigma around young mums not doing much after they have had a baby.It was a shock at the time as I was on the pill but I had very supportive parents who helped me along the way.I was determined to work and picked up a bar job, running home every night to make sure James was fed.Being a young mum meant I never really got used to having a social life or solely looking after myself so that having children just seemed to slot in. Lisa is now hoping to have children with
new husband, Graeme, 43, but says it will be strange to think her baby's nephew will be older than her grandchild, Archie.  She said:When I found out I was becoming a grandmother I felt a lot of people around me thought I would see it in a negative way, a misconception that I would feel I was getting old.But it was the completely opposite, having a baby in the family is just such a joy, it in no way made me feel as if I was getting old. If anything being younger is an advantage and means I have more time to spend with Archie. Also that I can run around and do a lot more activities with him. She added: We are very close as a family and with a smaller age gap, it means we have a lot of similar interests in music, films and fashion. The kids even took me along to a Coldplay concert. The post Grandmother keeps getting mistaken for her son's girlfriend appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
