The Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has detained Adeyeye Olorunfemi, who has written a post on his Facebook page accusing the university of incompetence, Sahara Reporters says. The student in his post described the poor handling of management affairs in the institution under headship of its incumbent Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahman Bello.

He was detained by the campus security men on September 21, Wednesday, and taken to its “Alpha Base” a temporary detention centre operated by the UNILAG campus security force. Adeyeye was surrounded and detained together with three others: Tomi Aina, Lateef Olawale, and another student only as “Olufela.”

The campus security officers were reportedly acting upon a tip-off that the arrested student was attending a meeting of students activists concerned about the poor state of management of campuses and victimization of student activists across the country.

A source said that Adeyeye was exchanging phone numbers with some students who saw him at the University gate when the campus security men, who seemingly had been trailing him approached him and three others before arresting them.
Later three suspects were transferred to Sabo police station in Yaba area of Lagos. Sources added that they were held overnight at the Alpha Base detention center on campus.
